The ANGLES Special Edition encases the greatest works from the first four issues of ANGLES. Editors took careful consideration when deciding which pieces truly represented the ANGLES aesthetic and mission. Our “ANGLES isn’t ___” phrase followed us through the design process of the physical copy to the launch party. ANGLES isn’t average. If ANGLES isn’t average, how could we possibly contain the best of ANGLES in an average book? We couldn’t of course. Each story sent into us was unique and handcrafted. Why shouldn’t our book be hand crafted? Countless hours were spent hand making the collages for the four Zine covers. Each cover is just as unique as its contents.

An ANGLES launch party isn’t a traditional launch party. For ANGLES, we wanted to pursue the abstract, the unspoken, the unseen– to achieve this, the poem “Hands” (check it out in the ANGLES special edition!) was read allowed; line by line, by all of the special edition editors. At first, onlookers assumed I was complaining about my hands. By the third line, we had caught everyone’s attention. Voices echoed from all corners of the room. Just like the voices of our published authors, ANGLES editors raised their voices from the unknown to an audience eager for more. At the completion of “Hands,” the managing editor, Jake, introduced the special issue as well as our readers.  Our wonderful SJFC student contributors, Meaghan Reilly and Jordan Meechan, held the audience captive with their beautiful word choices and use of dark matters to create enticing tales. ANGLES isn’t boring. The special edition of ANGLES isn’t something to skip!
