A variety of talent flooded Cleary Auditorium as students vied to win Fisher’s Got Talent on Oct. 20.

An Adele song, accompanied by piano, won Sanjeev Sekharan first place and a $100 Visa gift card.

The annual event was hosted by Fisher Players and the Student Activities Board (SAB). Participants showcased their bands, singing, comedy and poem readings.

Emma Northrop, president of Fisher Players, thought it was important for people to show their talents because “it’s a way for people to show their creativity and to really show who they are. And I think that when people show their talents, we really get to see what Fisher has to offer.”

The clubs eliminated contestants until a top 10 was determined. After the 10 acts performed, a final three was determined. The second place winner won a $75 Visa gift card, and the third place winner won a $50 Visa gift card. An individual who did not place in the top three but was a crowd favorite, won a $25 Visa gift card. Students were also given raffle tickets and prizes throughout the night.

Freshman Riley Smith came to watch one of her friends perform and was captivated by the singing and all the other acts.

“The show was funny, and it gave you the feels with all the amazing singing,” said Smith.

Although Fisher Players puts on a variety of shows, Northrop thought that Fisher’s Got Talent will help get more students involved with Fisher Players.

“I think this shows that even though we are into drama, we are interested in the talent that we have at Fisher,” she said.

Northrop said that it’s important for Fisher students to know that you don’t only need to be able to sing or dance to be a part of Fisher Players, there are plenty of behind the scenes opportunities.

“We have a tech crew who do lights and sound, people doing tickets, people hosting the show, and running around backstage making sure everything runs smoothly,” said Northrop.

If you missed Fisher’s Got Talent, come join the Fisher Players on Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. for the “Who Dun It?” murder mystery show.
