Riverdale, CW’s hit series, is on its second season and things are just heating up. With the return of old characters and new drama, this season is likely to be a good one.

The series, which was based on the characters by Archie Comics, hit television screens on Oct. 11. Since then, viewers got a taste of what the new season will be like in two episodes.

Chapter 14, A Kiss Before Dying (episode one): The first episode threw viewers back into the world of Riverdale, with none other than blood and sensation. With Jughead Jones’ (Cole Sprouse) ties with the local gang and Archie Andrew’s (KJ Apa) father holding on for life, one cannot help but sit at the edge of their seat. The end of the episode features a surprising new character that reemerges into Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) life and even more shocking, another murder takes place, and the victim is a familiar face.

Chapter 15 Nighthawks (episode two): This Wednesday’s episode was an action packed event. Pop’s is losing business and begins to rep the name “death diner.” As a result, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) begins a quest to avenge Pop’s and prevent it from closing. There is also drama between Veronica and her parents, and the underlying question still stands, who shot Archie’s dad? By the end of episode two, more souls are claimed by the unknown killer in the ski mask. I have the feeling this won’t be the end of murder in Riverdale.

Riverdale’s juicy drama and endless curve balls keep the show engaging and entertaining. There is never a dull moment and there isn’t a point in the series where the viewer knows all the details about the plot. If you like a good murder mystery with a side of teen drama, this television series is perfect for you. Season two looks promising so tune in every Wednesday at 8 p.m. on CW for more thrilling action, plot twists, and I’m just taking a stab here… murder!
