Women’s sports roundup to Oct. 28

 The women’s soccer team closed out its season with a 7-0 home win over Elmira on Senior Day Oct. 27. The team was led by three goals from Makenzie Winslow and two from Carli Kovarik, who also had an assist. Abigail Dwyer also had a goal and an assist.

 Earlier in the week, the team dropped a 1-0 game at Utica. The team finishes 7-6-3 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play.


Cross country

The Fisher women’s cross country team finished fifth in the Empire 8 championship on Oct. 27 at Alfred.

Seniors Juliette Miller and Brenna Lyons and Junior Gabriella Dunkelberg all were named Second-Team All-Conference. Miller was the top runner for the Cardinals, finishing in 11th place with a time of 27:00.49.

Field hockey

 The Fisher field hockey team continued its winning ways, posting a 7-2 victory over Nazareth at home on Oct. 24 and a 5-0 win at Hartwick on Oct. 27.

 Lauren Fazio (4 goals, 2 assists across both games) and Bre Socker (2 goals, 2 assists) continued to lead the way for the team. Gianna Palma also scored two goals against Hartwick, and Reghan Amoroso had a goal in each game plus one assist. Socker was named the Empire 8 player of the week for her efforts.

 The team’s next action is against Stevens in the Empire 8 championship on Friday Nov. 2


 In the RIT Invitational Oct. 26 and 27, the women’s volleyball team swept Lycoming and Buffalo State 30, but lost to the host Tigers 3-2.  They finish the season 17-15 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

 The team faces rival Nazareth in the Empire 8 championship at Stevens University in New Jersey on Saturday Nov. 3
