The Football team snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they defeated Hartwick by a score of 49-21. In the victory, TySean Sizer snatched four catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns, improving his season total to four touchdown grabs.
The Cardinals will look to remain in the win column when they take on the Red Dragons from Cortland at home on Saturday, Oct. 26.
It was truly a tail of two games for the Field Hockey team this last weekend as they defeated Sage by a score of 10-0 on Friday, Oct. 18, and fell just short to Middlebury by a score of 2-1 on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Bre Socker continued her stellar Junior campaign notching four goals against Sage which increased her season total to 22, while also earning her another Empire 8 Player Of the Week award.
Men’s Cross Country
For the first time this season the Men’s Cross Country team placed first overall, winning the ESF Mighty Oak Invitational. In the victory, five Cardinals placed in the top ten, including Andrew Ford who placed third overall.
This win will hopefully provide a late season spark as they start a two-week preparation period for the Empire 8 Championship at home on Saturday, November 2.
Women’s Cross Country
Like the Men’s Cross Country team, the Women also had five individual top ten finishers en route to claiming a first place finish at the ESF Mighty Oak Invitational. Freshman Riley Corey continued to dominate the competition as she has done all year, claiming first individually with a time of 19:51.9.
The Women’s Cross Country team will also compete in the Empire 8 Championship in two weeks time on Saturday, November 2.
Moving into the final quarter of their season, the Men’s Soccer team saw a hard fought battle against Nazareth end in a 1-1 draw on Saturday, Oct. 19. Brennan Brown had the lone goal for the Cardinals, improving his team-leading total to four.
The draw moves the Card’s record to 3-8-2 overall, and they will look forward to their last away match of the season when they travel to Elmira on Saturday, Oct. 26.
In the last home match of the year, the Women’s Soccer team celebrated their six seniors while also drawing Utica 2-2. After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Women allowed two second half goals, leading to the draw.
The draw moves the Women to 5-6-3 on the season as they head to the State’s Capital to play Sage on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The Women’s Tennis team claimed the program’s first ever Empire 8 Championship this past weekend, defeating arch rival Nazareth in the championship match.The Women rolled Nazareth, winning every single match they played against them.
Kaili Saffran capped off her incredible fall season with her seventh doubles victory, alongside partner Cassidy Bell. The Women will surely be celebrating the championship, until it is back to work for the spring season in March.
The Women’s Volleyball team split a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 19, defeating Hunter College and losing to Kean University, both in straight sets. With the win and loss, the Cardinals move their record to 18-8 overall.
The Cardinals will close out their home half of the schedule when they take on Elmira on Friday, Oct. 25, and Hartwick the following day.
