Football

The Fisher Football team defeated the Alfred Saxtons by a score of 31-28 on Senior Day at Growney Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Kicker Joe Dotterweich hit the game winning field goal with 30 seconds left in regulation, and AJ Ariosa sealed the game off with an interception on Alfred’s final drive.

With the victory the Cardinals finish the regular season 5-5 and are now bowl eligible. 

Men’s Cross Country 

Men’s Cross Country placed 22nd overall at the Atlantic Regional Championship, which took place at St. Lawrence University on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Andrew Ford came in 56th place individually with a time of 26:23, followed by Bernard Daoust in 59th place with a time of 26:26. Bogdan Rozvora finished his freshman season in 178th place with a final time of 28:19.

The team will head into the off season looking to improve on what they did this year. 

Women’s Cross Country 

Along with the Men, the Women’s Cross Country team also competed in the Atlantic Regional Championship at St. Lawrence University on Saturday, Oct. 16. The team placed 20th overall out of 38 teams making it the second best finish at this meet in program history.

Riley Corey ran a 24:06 as the freshman placed 61st overall individually. The team averaged a total time of 25:09 which was under two minutes behind first place Geneseo.

The women now look to the future in the form of recruiting, to see who will contribute to the team in upcoming years. 

Women’s Volleyball 

Women’s Volleyball had its monumental season come to an end losing to the number 25 Wesleyan University (At Clarkson) in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, Oct. 15.

Alea Steigerwald had nine kills along with two blocks and an ace, followed by Lauren Gilbert with eight kills, three blocks, and an ace.

The women finish their historic season at 23-11 overall (7-0 in the Empire 8.) 

Men’s Basketball 

Number 25 ranked Men’s Basketball is currently 2-1 on the season after picking up wins over Cazenovia College and Hilbert College to win the Hilbert Tip-Off Tournament this past weekend in Buffalo, New York.

James Leone had 20 points in the Hilbert game, followed by Matt Asenjo with 16, and Dennis Hare with 15. Sammy Robinson finished with 12 points playing 22 minutes total.

The team will take part in the 2019 Mark’s Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout on Thursday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 23.

Women’s Basketball 

The number 20 ranked Women’s Basketball team won the Emmanuel College Tip-Off this past weekend with wins over Husson College 69-59, and host Emmanuel College 76-68, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Julia Mertsock had 24 points in the championship game, followed by Ella Eckert with 18, and Leah Koonmen with 12.

The team is now 3-0 to start their season, and along with the men, will participate in the Mark’s Pizzeria Cross Town-Shootout on Thursday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 23.
