St. John Fisher College announced on Monday that campus will be closed, and all extracurricular activities are canceled.
Regular scheduled classes were not held on Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. However in an email to students, school officials announced additional cancellations due to the weather.
Ward-Haffey and Murphy dining halls will remain open, however, Lavery Library, the Bookstore, and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center are closed.
The campus closing comes after Monroe County Executive Adam Bello issued a No Unnecessary Travel Advisory due to heavy snow and high winds creating hazardous road conditions. The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
Commuter students are advised to follow Tips for Traveling in Winter Weather from the National Weather Service, including:
- Check the NWS forecast,
- Check road conditions,
- Stay mobile,
- Winterize your vehicle,
- Pack an emergency supply kit.
According to the alert sent from the college, “The College will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 18.”
