Blackboard upgrade completed

Dear Campus Community,

Please be aware that the Blackboard upgrade has been completed and the site is now accessible.

Changes to Grading of Blackboard Assignments

If you use Blackboard assignments, specifically the in-line grading and commenting features, you will notice some changes following the recent upgrade to Blackboard. The in-line commenting features previously available through the Crocodoc window have now been replaced with a commenting tool from Box. The new features allow you to add sticky note like comments directly into a document within your Blackboard window. You can also print the document and download the document directly from this editing window.

You will notice that many of the previous Crocodoc comment features like the drawing tool, strikethrough, area and point comments are not available in the new editor. Comments that you made on previously submitted work will still be available in a read-only mode in courses from last semester and prior. You will no longer be able to edit previously entered comments, but you will be able to view and download those comments if needed. See the below screenshots for a comparison of the old Crocodoc editor (left) and the new Box editor (right).

In some cases when viewing an assignment from a previous course you may see a window that states the file is converting and will be ready in 1 or 2 sec. If the file does not load, simply refresh your window and the document should appear.
