OIT Alert: SJFC Wireless Certificate Renewal

Campus WiFi Update

Dear Campus Community, Over the last few months many students, faculty and staff have contacted the OIT Service Desk with trouble connecting to WiFi with your Apple iOS device. In October 2015 OIT received a notice from Meru Networks, the manufacturer of the WiFi equipment on campus, stating that there was a known compatibility issue with Apple iOS 9 devices. Since then, OIT has worked closely with Meru Networks and Apple enterprise support to reach a resolution between the two vendors. As of this week, it has been confirmed there is no known fix. WHAT TO EXPECT The compatibility issues we have observed are intermittent. Affected users may experience no symptoms at all, or have difficulty connecting to or staying connected to any WiFi network on campus. This is impacting both the residence halls and academic areas. OIT continues to encourage any user experiencing a problem to contact the OIT Service Desk as usual. GOING FORWARD OIT is currently reviewing the WiFi infrastructure across campus and will be looking to make improvements that will increase performance and reliability. As this process continues we will be involving members of the campus to help us to evaluate and determine the best solutions moving forward. OIT Alert: Turnitin Maintenance on March 5th, 2016

Dear Campus Community, Turnitin (www.turnitin.com) has announced that they will be completing maintenance on Saturday, March 5th from 10:00am until 2:00pm and the system may be intermittently unavailable. An announcement will appear for users within Turnitin in advance of when the system will be unavailable for this scheduled maintenance. Instructors who use Turnitin are encouraged to modify assignment due dates either before or at least several hours after the scheduled maintenance window.
